Digestive disorders: symptoms, causes, and prevention
Digestive disorder is known as irritable bowel disease which is caused to almost every 3rd
person these days. There are several factors that cause this health problem,
but when you are reaching a point of developing Crohn’s disease or else
ulcerative colitis, you need to be careful.
What are the symptoms?
There are several symptoms of the disorder and a few of them include: -
- Severe inflammation and diarrhoea, which can affect the parts of bowel.
- Bleeding ulcers that means you will see blood in the stool, and it will pain when you pass stool.
- Stomach ache, cramping, bloating, irritation and headache followed by a fever.
- Weight loss in some cases and anaemia, which can be harmful to if children have it.
If you are eating too much fatty food, not exercising, not drinking enough
water, too much stress, smoking excessively, poor circulation in your body,
intestinal infection, bacterial and viral infections. Sometimes, family history
can also play a role in causing acidic reflux and heartburns, which result in
digestive disorders.
How is it diagnosed?
The symptoms will start showing from day one or two and your doctor will be
able to tell what is the problem but other than this, stool sample is taken and
blood tests will be done to check if you have Crohn’s disease or irritable
bowel syndrome. Besides this, a barium enema which is an X-ray process that
checks the colon and intestine is required for further check-up.
How is it treated and prevented?
Most of the time anti-inflammatory drugs and infection medicines are given.
Immunity boosting medications along with multivitamins and an increase in
dietary fibre in your regular food will be suggested.
Prevention: -
There are simple ways to fight digestive disorder. All you need to do is eat
healthy foods, include fruits in your diet, make sure you walk or work out for
10 to 15 minutes every day, drink 10 to 12 glasses of water without fail, avoid
smoking and get good sleep!
