Diabetes in teenagers and its types!

Diabetes has become a common health problem similar to a headache these days. With the rise of obesity, unhealthy practices of eating, not exercising and wrong habits, teenagers are victims of the disease. It is extremely tough to live with the health issue as you have to watch what you eat, take medications on time and get constant check-ups done for the same.

Which types are found?Even though Type 2 was noted to be found in middle-aged people and older individuals, due to being overweight, many children were diagnosed too. But, Type 1 diabetes was highly found in several teenagers. This is known as juvenile diabetes and it is a troubling issue.

What is type 1 diabetes?When the pancreas fails to make insulin, which is a hormone that regulates the glucose in the body to give them energy, you need to take insulin often. Since the insulin is not automatically producing in your body, the sugar will stay in the blood causing you hazards. You constantly have to take insulin shots which are troublesome and painful too. No teenager wants to do so much at their age as they are going to high school.

What can you do?

1. Make sure you are maintaining your weight and indulging in several sports activities.
2. Cut down too much processed sugar like candies, sweet cereals and other products. You can add honey in your meals if you like sweet.
3. Have small portions of healthy food at least two times a day to ensure that you are not harming your body. Avoid too much junk or processed meat.
4. Limit their time on television, mobile phones and other things. They require rest to recover the energy they lost through the day.

If you do not follow a healthy lifestyle, your child will end up becoming dull as they will have no energy in their body. This will harm their performance in school and can be harmful for their health too. Many diabetic patients are known to have numbness in the body and heart problems too.
