Reasons and symptoms of Flu in Teens and its treatment
Flu is a very
common problem among all age groups especially the teenagers. Caused by the virus,
this is highly contagious in nature and easily spreads across. Flu commonly
happens during the period of change of seasons and affects the entire body
weakening them, causing running noses and headache. Usually, it stays anywhere from
one to three days, but, in case of viral, the period may even extend.
Causes of Flu: Flu is mostly caused in teenagers due to infection caused in the respiratory tract by the influenza virus. This is quite infectious and can easily spread from a person suffering from it. Generally, Type B of influenza virus causes seasonal outbreaks and affects human beings while Type A virus attacks the animals.
Symptoms: Symptoms of
flu are quite relatable and can be identified easily. The earlier they are
recognized, the better. Some of the common symptoms are high fever, running
nose, continuous coughing especially the dry cough, throat being sore, headache
or body ache including pains in the muscles, chills, weakness or a little high
fever. Nausea or vomiting can also happen in some cases but are not very
common. If you encounter any of these symptoms in your teenager, consult a
doctor for early recovery.
Treatment: The best way
to treat flu is to take rest and consume plenty of liquids (including lots of
water) as that curbs the risk of infection from spreading. However, in case,
the symptoms are very high, or one is panicked and wants a quick recovery,
antiviral medications can also be opted for.
Just ensure
to consult a physician and stick to the dosage as an incomplete dose may re-invite
the virus. Also, taking adequate rest helps the body to get the necessary time
to recuperate and rebuild its immunity for fighting the viruses. Get regular health check up at Polo Labs!
