Heart disease: Could Sleeping Disorders Play a Role?

A good sleep in the night is something we all want. Getting disturbed sleep can cause a ton of problems to your health. When you are lacking the proper 7 to 8-hour sleep, you may suffer from headaches, irritation, migraines, and dullness. These are just day-to-day problems; there are bigger things that could go wrong internally when you have sleeping disorders.

What is a sleeping disorder?

All of us at some point in our life experience sleeping troubles due to travel, illness, stress or other interruptions in your routine. When you have irregular sleep patterns or not getting sleep at night at all, you are suffering from the disorder. It can take a toll on your mental and physical health.

How is it related to heart problems?

When you are sleeping less or experiencing disorders, you can go through sleep apnea. This is when you get less supply of oxygen in your body which can cause strain on your heart and circulation system. This will lead to a cardiac arrest! Low level of oxygen in the night is a serious condition, which needs to be treated. It will weaken your heart over the time causing you severe heart diseases in the future.

How to fight sleeping disorders?
  • Schedule your bedtime and make a routine that you will be in bed by this time. When you have a time to sleep and to wake up, your body gets used to it.
  • Put your phone away and cut down the caffeine in the night. Do not look at your phone half an hour before your bedtime and no caffeine before 3 to 4 hours of bed.
  • Have meals three hours before your bedtime so that you can digest it properly.
  • Lastly, exercise for 10 to 15 minutes in a day by the late evening so that you get good sleep.
These simple steps will fight sleeping disorders in due course and put you on a proper schedule. It will be a little hard in the beginning, but you will eventually get used to it. Complete your 8-hour sleep cycle to safeguard your heart from diseases.
